You may think that Courchevel simply shuts down during the summer and everyone goes on holiday! well no, there is lots going on up on the mountain with improvements being made to the lifts and pistes  all in preparation for the following winter.
Three lifts have been replaced for this season. The “Fôret” bubble lift in Courchevel le Praz has at last been renewed by a super fast 6-seater demountable chair. This 1970’s lift only carried 1,000 people per hour, the new one will carry 2,400 people per hour.  Total Cost for this new lift, 9 million Euros.
The old “Aiguilles du Fruit” chairlift and the Gravelles chairlift have both been replaced by one new 6-seater demountable chair which has the ability to move more people than both the old ones put together! Total cost 8 million Euros.
They have been working hard on the Pistes too! The Altiport piste has been turned into a gentle Blue run starting from the top of the “Aiguilles du Fruit” lift and the connecting piste between Courchevel-Moriond now has 8 new snow cannons to improve snow cover.
Lastly, an area of ungroomed, avalanche-controlled terrain has been created in the Courchevel-Moriond area called the “Liberty Ride du Tétrasâ€.  The idea is to allow “adventure seekers” access to some Off Piste terrain without the associated risks.
