Mont-Blanc Tunnel Chamonix

Every year for the next 16 years there is going to be a Mont Blanc tunnel closure. It is scheduled to start at the beginning of September and go until the 16th of December. When access to the Mont Blanc tunnel is closed it can causes major problems. Both for road freight traffic and also for people who want to “nip” through to Italy to catch a Bus (for example). Here we are going to have a look at what is happening in the Mont Blanc Tunnel and how you can still get to your destination.

How to get there

So… “The best way to get from Courmayeur from Chamonix”. There are 2 options for this. Either you travel from France into Switzerland then into Italy by going over the col de ST Bernard and down into Aoste. Or, you travel the other way through France towards Bourg St Maurice and over the Petit Col de st Bernard and then down into Courmayeur.

Both of the options above take about 3 hours one way and involve driving on very twisty mountain roads. The cost for a vehicle to go one way is around 500 Euros depending on the time of day and the number of people.

The most popular way of travelling to Courmayeur at the moment is our Tesla Model Y. Have a look Here to enquire or book.

For anybody travelling on their own who has stubbled across this article. You may benefit from having a look at the website of the ATMB. https://www.atmb.com/ Here you will get all the latest updates regarding the Tunnel Du Mont-Blanc.
