An Austrian climber who was attempting to take his 5yr old son up Mt Blanc has been stopped at the refuge “Tete Rousse” by members of the PGHM.
The refuge is located at 3,200 meters altitude which is already quite high for a 5 year old child. Â The pair hadn’t yet crossed the Grand Couloir but would have needed to in order to get to the summit. Â The couloir is notorious for stone fall during the summer months and many people have been killed here.
The major of nearby town “St Garvais” has complained that Mt Blanc is becoming a bit of an amusement park due to this and other recent events.
