In a recent vote, the Les Houches “Marie” has voted in favour of hosting the Alpine Skiing World Cup 2016 on 20th February.  In previous years the event has taken place slightly earlier in the season.
There were some very valid concerns about this slightly later date among the council members which explains the following vote: 14 votes in favour, 6 votes against and 3 abstentions.
The problem with this later date is that it coincides with the February holidays when Les Houches is already fully booked with holiday makers. Â The “Verte” downhill piste will be closed for preparation leading up to the date resulting in less open pistes for holiday makers. Â However, the later date does mean that there will be a better chance of having good snow cover!
